SCRANTON, PA (April 12, 2023) -- Four players recorded five-point performances as The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team picked up a dominant 24-8 Landmark Conference win over Drew on Wednesday evening at Weiss Field.

With the win, the Royals advance to 9-5 on the season and 3-1 on conference play.

Junior Joe Boyle (Huntington, N.Y. / St. Anthony's) scored a pair of goals in a tightly contested opening quarter as the Royals led 4-3 headed into the second period.

Freshman Kyle Holmes (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) added a pair of goals in the second quarter as the Royals led by four goals at halftime.

Scranton broke the game open in the third period, scoring nine unanswered goals to take an 18-5 lead with one quarter remaining. The Royals kept things rolling in the fourth period as they went on to win by a final score of 24-8.

Holmes scored a game-high four goals while senior Christopher Crapanzano (Basking Ridge, N.J. / Ridge) and junior Matthew McAree (Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset) each added three goals and two assists. Seniors Mitchell Kozak (Floral Park, N.Y. / Floral Park Memorial) and Matt Solleder (Ramsey, N.J. / Don Bosco Prep) each posted two goals and three assists on the night for Scranton.

Senior Colin Pierce (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) played well on the defensive end, recording a game-high eight grounds balls and three caused turnovers. Freshman goalkeeper Declan Allen (Garden City, N.Y. / Millbrook) picked up his seventh win of the season and made 11 saves.

The men's lacrosse team is back at Weiss Field on Saturday for a 1:00 PM Landmark Conference matchup against Goucher.
