TOWSON, Md. – The University of Scranton women's tennis team (6-6, 2-1 Landmark) dropped a 7-2 decision to the Goucher College Gophers (5-5, 1-1 Landmark) in a conference match on Sunday afternoon at the Schroedl Tennis Center in Towson.
The duo of senior Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area)/sophomore Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) notched an 8-4 win at the first doubles flight, but the Royals trailed 2-1 headed into singles play.
Nowak rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Natalia Navarro in No. 1 singles and sophomore Brigid O'Mara (Pleasantville, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic Prep) dropped a three-set heartbreaker (7-5, 1-6, 0-6) to Jessica Townes at No. 3 singles.
Freshman Olivia Sirico (Westtown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) also battled in a three-set decision (6-4, 4-6, 3-6) against Goucher's Eliza Abady in fourth singles.
Scranton returns to action on Monday, Apr. 10 at Elizabethtown with first serve slated for 3 p.m.
