The University of Scranton men's tennis team qualified for the Landmark Conference postseason for a seventh straight year and the fourth-seeded Royals (7-10, 4-3 Landmark) will battle No. 1 seed Drew (14-4, 7-0 Landmark) in semifinal action on Tuesday afternoon with first serve slated for 4 p.m.
Tuesday's winner will battle the winner of No. 2 Goucher/No. 3 Moravian in Saturday's championship match at the home of the highest remaining seed.
Scranton closed the regular season with consecutive victories including a 5-4 win at Catholic on Apr. 16 that helped to secure the fourth and final playoff spot.
This marks the sixth all-time postseason meeting between the two teams including a 5-0 Drew victory in the 2022 semifinals.
For the Royals, the trio of junior Jason Budrys (East Hanover, N.J./Hanover Park), senior James Harrington (West Chester, Pa./Malvern Prep) and sophomore John Sinclair (Scranton, Pa./West Scranton) have all posted double-digit victories as Budrys leads the way with 12. In doubles play, Harrington and fellow senior Patrick O'Mara (Pleasantville, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac) have registered a 13-6 mark at the first doubles flight.
Drew is led by Leo Ambrogio with 14 victories and Santo Carroccia with 13.
Earlier this season, the Rangers picked up a 7-2 win over the Royals on Apr. 12.
