Women's Tennis Falls to Drew in Landmark Semifinal Action

MADISON, N.J. – The No. 4 seed University of Scranton women's tennis team (9-9) dropped a 5-0 match to the top-seeded Drew University Rangers (17-2) in Landmark Conference semifinal action on Wednesday afternoon at the Drew Tennis Complex in Madison.

This marked the second straight year that the two teams had met in the Landmark semifinals.

Drew led 3-0 after doubles play despite a strong fight from the No. 1 duo of senior Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area)/sophomore Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) who dropped an 8-4 decision.

The Rangers then clinched the match with victories at No. 3 and No. 4 singles. At the time the match was called, Wisniewski held a 6-4, 1-0 lead over Drew's Melina Christodoulou in second singles.

Nowak was the lone senior member of the Royals' 2022-23 roster.
