Box Score SCRANTON, PA (April 29, 2023) -- The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team picked up a 13-3 win over Susquehanna on senior day at Weiss Field on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Royals advance to 8-9 on the season and 5-2 in conference play.
The Royals scored the opening goal of the game at the 13:44 mark as sophomore Molly McCarren (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) found the back of the net to give Scranton an early 1-0 lead. Scranton added four more goals to take a 5-1 lead into the second period.
Senior Maggie Smith (Glen Rock, N.J. / Glen Rock) led the way fo the Royals in the first half with a hat trick as Scranton held a 10-1 lead headed into the break.
Junior Erin Reich (Rockville Centre, N.Y. / South Side) kept things rolling for Scranton to start the second half as she scored her third goal of the day at the 11:55 mark of the third period to give her squad a 10 goal lead. Scranton added two more goals in the fourth period and went on to win by a final score of 13-3.
Sophomore Grace Lane (Long Beach, N.Y. / Sacred Heart Academy) joined Smith and Reich with three goals on the day to go along with one assist for a game-high four points. Senior Caroline Miller (Huntington, N.Y. / Elwood-John H. Glenn) also found the back of the net Scranton on her senior day.
Junior defenders Grace Dabulas (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield) and Nicolina Mauro (South Hempstead, N.Y. / South Side) each recorded three caused turnovers in the win for Scranton.
The women's lacrosse team will now get set to battle Moravian in the Landmark semifinals on Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 PM in Bethlehem, PA.
