MADISON, N.J. – Sophomore Nicole Stofko (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) won both the one and three-meter dives and The University of Scranton women's swimming & diving team notched a thrilling 156-143 dual meet victory over the Drew Rangers on Saturday at F.M. Kirby Pool in Madison.
With the victory, the Royals finish with an 11-1 record in dual meets on the season.
Stofko won the one-meter event with 184.95 points and posted a score of 206.93 points in the three-meter event.
Senior Marina Nunziato (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) won the 200 free for the Royals with a time of 1:57.81, marking a new personal-best and the third-fastest time in program history. Nunziato also finished second in the 100 free at 54.83 seconds and third in the 50 free with a time of 26.11 seconds.
Scranton took the top four places in the 200 fly as senior Kayleigh Olszewski (Conshohocken, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur) won the event in a time of 2:17.21 and sophomore Isabella Kane (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) placed second in 2:18.39.
Junior Aviah Dahlgren (Honesdale, Pa./Wyoming Seminary) captured the 500 free in a time of 5:16.17, while senior Michelle Kong (Edison, N.J./John P. Stevens) took first in the 100 fly in 1:00.00.
Both senior Jaclyn Papalski (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) and junior Alanna Kelly (Yonkers, N.Y./School of the Holy Child) added two second-place finishes apiece as Papalski took second in both the 500 free (5:16.34) and 1,000 free (10:50.76), while Kelly swam second in the 100 (1:09.73) and 200 breaststroke (2:31.19).
For Papalski, her 1,000 free time marked the second-best in program history and her 500 free time is the third-best.
In the 200 free relay, the Royals' quartet of freshman Kim Gingrass (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy), senior Giavanna Baquerizo (Maywood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy), Dahlgren and Nunziato recorded a first-place finish in 1:41.38.
Scranton will be back in action on Feb. 15 as the Landmark Conference Championships get underway at 6 p.m.
