CHESTER, PA - The University of Scranton men's swimming team dropped a 138-123 dual meet decision to the Widener University Pride inside of the Schwartz Athletic Center on Saturday.
- Junior Mike Finley earned the first victory of the day for the Royals in the Men's 50 yard backstroke in 26.04 seconds. He also won the men's 100 yard backstroke with a time of 56.89.
- Junior Matt Sherry swam to a first-place finish in the men's 50 yard butterfly in 23.79 and the men's 100 yard butterfly in 53.24.
- Senior James Cava won the men's 100 yard freestyle and finished in a time of 50.42.
- The Royals claimed the victory in the men's 500 yard freestyle as Jimmy O'Malley edged out the second-place finisher by over three seconds with a final time 4:57.20.
The men's swimming team will begin the season's home schedule with a meet in the Byron Recreation Complex next Saturday, October 19 at 1:00 PM against Ithaca College.
