SCRANTON, PA – The University of Scranton field hockey team fought hard for all 60 minutes, but their comeback fell short as they lost to Susquehanna by a final score of 2-1 at Weiss Field Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
- Susquehanna stuck first in the opening minute of the game, converting on their first penalty corner attempt of the contest. The insertion went to the top of the circle where Mady Quigley connected with Kari Schmidt, who redirected the pass into the cage to give the River Hawks the 1-0 lead.
- Later in the first quarter, the River Hawks converted on their very next corner, going up 2-0 when Kari Schmidt buried a shot from the top of the circle.
- Scranton did not register a single shot on goal in the first half.
- The Royals finally broke through the River Hawks' defense in the eighth minute of the fourth quarter. Junior Annie Coll grabbed possession inside the circle and took a shot that went off the cage and deflected to junior Annie Shaw, who poked it by the Susquehanna goalie to make it a 2-1 game.
- Despite the Royals' earning two more corner attempts and taking two more shots before the end of the game, they were unable to find the equalizer, falling by a score of 2-1.

- Shaw scored the Royals' lone goal, her ninth goal of the season.
