Men's Tennis Falls to Catholic in Landmark Action, 8-1

Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, PA -- The University of Scranton men's tennis team was defeated 8-1 by Catholic University on Saturday afternoon at the Birchwood Racquet Club.

With the loss, the Royals fall to 1-4 on the spring season and 1-1 in Landmark Conference action. 

Doubles
  • The Cardinals defeated Scranton in all three doubles matches.
  • The No. 1 singles duo of freshmen Maxwell Dombrowski (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill East) and Lucas Kotcho (Jermyn, Pa. / Valley View) battled hard but fell in the tie breaker 7-2. 
  • In No. 3 doubles, the team of sophomore Nathan Harrison (Pennsville, N.J. / Pennsville Memorial) and freshman Isaiah Dore (Plainfield, N.J. / Plainfield Academy for the Arts & Advanced Studies) also took their match to a tie break but fell 7-3. 
Singles 
  • Kotcho picked up the only win of the day for the Royals in No. 4 singles as he defeated Ben Perks of Catholic in straight sets of 6-3, 7-5. 
The men's tennis team returns to action tomorrow at the Birchwood Racquet Club at 4:00 PM for a Landmark matchup against Goucher.
