Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, PA -- The University of Scranton women's tennis team swept doubles and posted a 6-3 win over Landmark Conference foe Catholic on Saturday afternoon at Birchwood Racquet Club.
The Royals move to 4-2 overall on the spring season and 2-0 in Landmark action.
Doubles
- Graduate Student Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa. / Hazelton Area) and junior Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J. / Bernards) cruised to an 8-1 victory in No. 1 singles.
- In No. 2 doubles, freshman Gisele Falzone (Wilkes-Barre, Pa. / Scranton Prep) and junior Brigid O'Mara (Pleasantville, N.Y. / Kennedy Catholic Prep) picked up an 8-5 win for the Royals.
- Scranton also earned an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles as junior Julia Nocentino (Mantua, N.J. / Kingsway Regional) and senior Lydia Grossman (Honesdale, Pa. / Honesdale) claimed victory.
Singles
- At No. 1 singles, Nowak took care of business for Scranton with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jane Krukie of Catholic.
- After dropping the opening set in, Wisniewski battled back to win 3-6, 6-2, 10-8 over Meghan Lansewski in No. 2 singles.
- Falzone dominated in No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Paige Brightwell.
The women's tennis team returns to action tomorrow at 4:00 PM at the Birchwood Racquet Club against Goucher College.
