The No. 3 seed University of Scranton women's tennis team (10-7) is set to host the No. 6 seed Wilkes Colonels (4-9) in Landmark Conference quarterfinal action this afternoon at Birchwood Racquet Club in Clarks Summit with first serve slated for 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday's winner will advance to Thursday's semifinal at No. 2 seed Moravian at 4 p.m.
Scranton notched an 8-1 victory over Wilkes back on Apr. 9 after winning all six singles matches in straight sets.
On the season, the trio of freshman Gisele Falzone (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Scranton Prep), sophomore Paige Hunt (West Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta)Â and graduate student Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area) have posted nine singles victories apiece. Nowak broke the program's career singles wins record on Apr. 14 and eight of her nine victories have come at the first singles flight.
Falzone has won eight consecutive matches with the last five coming in straight sets.
In doubles play, Nowak matched the program and Landmark Conference career wins record on Sunday with the 53rd of her career. The Freeland, Pa., native owns 10 total doubles victories on the season including a 3-0 mark with Falzone over the last three matches.
Junior Daniella Wisniewski (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards)Â leads the Royals with 12 doubles wins between the first and second flight.
Wilkes is led by Tea Amerise who has six doubles and five singles victories.
