The No. 3 seed University of Scranton women's tennis team (11-7) will hit the road to battle No. 2 seed Moravian (14-4) in Landmark Conference semifinal action on Thursday afternoon at Hoffman Courts In Bethlehem. First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
Thursday's winner will advance to Saturday's championship match against the winner of No. 1 seed Drew/No. 4 seed Goucher at the site of the highest remaining seed.
Scranton advanced to the semifinals with a 5-0 victory over Wilkes on Tuesday as graduate student Lily Nowak (Freeland, Pa./Hazleton Area)Â broke the program and Landmark Conference career doubles wins record with the 54th win of her career. Nowak and freshman Gisele Falzone (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Scranton Prep) notched an 8-6 win over Zoe Klein/Tea Amerise at first doubles.
The Royals won all three doubles matches and then got singles victories from Falzone at the third flight and junior Taralyn Reilly (Archbald, Pa./Valley View) on the fourth flight to complete the sweep.
Moravian posted a 6-3 victory over the Royals in the regular season meeting back on Apr. 14 as they captured all three doubles matches.
This marks the seventh all-time postseason meeting between the two programs.
