Coming off a second consecutive Landmark Conference Championship, The University of Scranton men's lacrosse team will host John Carroll in an NCAA Tournament First Round matchup on Wednesday afternoon at Weiss Field with start time slated for 4 p.m.
Wednesday's winner will advance to the second round at Dickinson on Saturday at 12 p.m.
Tickets for Wednesday are cash only and are $5 for adults and $3 for students as well as children ages two and above.
The Royals scored 11 straight goals between the second and third quarters to break a three-all tie en route to a 17-6 victory at top-seeded ETown in Saturday's Landmark title game. Freshman Myles McCutcheon (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood)Â scored a career-high six goals in the victory and sophomore Kyle Holmes (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan)Â registered 15 goals in three postseason games to earn Tournament MVP honors.
John Carroll won the OAC for an eighth straight year with a 17-9 victory over Baldwin Wallace as Josh Lombardo tallied seven points on five goals and two assists and Morgan Morrell added four goals.
A season ago, both teams advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where the Royals fell to Gettysburg and the Blue Streaks were defeated by Dickinson.
This marks the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Scranton features a balanced scoring attack with five players with 20 or more goals: Holmes leads the way with 50, McCutcheon has 44, senior Matthew McAree (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset)Â has 43, senior Alex Eglitis (Randolph, N.J./Randolph)Â has 26 and sophomore Pat McCormack (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) has added 20.
McAree is tops on the team with 24 assists and senior Joe Boyle (Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's) has added 37 points on 17 goals and 20 assists including a season-high six in Saturday's Landmark title game victory.
Defensively, junior Zachariah Palinkas (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) leads the team with 33 caused turnovers and graduate student Colin Pierce is second in both ground balls (81) and caused turnovers (33).
Sophomore goalie Declan Allen (Garden City, N.Y./Millbrook) tallied 27 saves in three postseason games last week and has allowed seven goals or less in three of his last four contests.
John Carroll is led by Colin Morrissey with 57 points as he is tops on the team with 36 goals and also has 21 assists, while Braden Zarek leads the team with 24 assists and has 27 goals.
Levi Kinnan has won 62.5% (120-of-192) of faceoffs and Alexander Sykas leads the team in both ground balls (68) and ground balls (28). In goal, Jon Gaglio has posted a 7.07 goals against average and has a .595 save percentage.
