The University of Scranton men's lacrosse program and Head Coach
Michael Hofmeister are proud to announce that senior attacker
Kyle Holmes has been named team captain for the 2026 season.
A key offensive force for the Royals throughout his career, Holmes now steps into a leadership role that reflects both his on-field production and strong presence within the program. The Bridgewater, N.J. native earned First Team All-Landmark Conference honors in 2025 after leading Scranton with 54 points, tallying 47 goals and seven assists.
"Kyle has earned the role of being this year's captain," said Coach Hofmeister. "He's one of the hardest workers I've ever coached. He's strong, in tremendous shape, dedicated to his studies, shoots hundreds of shots a week and is just overall relentless about being great at what he does. He's always serving, working & humble. All of this is seen, and respected, by his teammates and I look forward to assisting Kyle in this role as we push for a great Scranton Men's Lacrosse season."
Holmes will lead a veteran and highly accomplished group as the Royals pursue another championship-caliber campaign in 2026. Among the key returners are fellow seniors
Quinn Carson and
Jason Kozak, who finished second and third in points last season. On defense, Scranton brings back First Team All-Conference goalkeeper
Carsen Kirchner, who set a new program record with 240 saves in 2025.
With a strong returning core and a talented incoming class, the Royals are well-positioned to contend in the Landmark Conference and on the national stage.
"What has become the usual for us, we will play a competitive non-conference schedule to not only prepare ourselves for Landmark Conference play but to challenge ourselves as we have a goal of being the best team in the country," Coach Hofmeister added. "Our team has the experience and recruits committed to this mindset and we have been, and will continue to, put in the work to be ready for what lies ahead this spring."
The 2026 men's lacrosse schedule will be released in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates.
