SCRANTON, Pa. – The University of Scranton men's swimming team turned in several standout swims despite falling to Gettysburg College, 169–93, in a dual meet on Saturday afternoon at the Byron Recreation Complex.
The Royals opened the meet with a strong showing in the 400-yard medley relay, as the quartet of Jake Brunetti, Sam Peters, Matt Sherry, and Craig Clarke finished second with a time of 3:33.51.
Scranton earned its first event victory in the 1000-yard freestyle, where Christopher Clarke touched first in 10:26.85, just edging out Gettysburg's Davis Hottle. Clarke later added a runner-up finish in the 500 free (5:04.21) to lead the distance group.

In the backstroke events, Brunetti continued his strong start to the season with second-place finishes in both the 100 back (52.90) and 200 back (1:55.70), while Ethan Kwon placed fourth in each race.
Scranton closed the meet with a second-place result in the 200 free relay, as Brunetti, Sherry, Leonard, and Sherry combined for a time of 1:27.68, narrowly behind Gettysburg's A team.
Despite the team result, the Royals showed consistency and depth across multiple strokes and distances against one of the region's strongest opponents.
