DALLAS, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's swimming team turned in a strong three-day showing at the Cougar Splash Invitational, stacking up top-eight finishes across multiple events and highlighted by a record-setting performance from freshman Alyssa Bean, who set a new school record in the 200 butterfly.
The Royals opened the invitational with an impressive group effort in the 500 freestyle, placing four swimmers in the top eight. Kimberly Gingrass led the way with a second-place swim of 5:13.13, followed by Campbell DeLuca (5:17.08), Aviah Dahlgren (5:22.02), and Olivia Thomas (5:22.62) to give Scranton an early scoring boost.
Scranton continued to build momentum in the 200 IM, where Meredith Sulman, Ava Forgione, Nichole Koltsov, Madison Rae, and Lauren Hazlett each posted strong times to keep the Royals high in the standings. The sprint group added more points as Amelia Griffin placed third in the 50 freestyle (25.01), with Hailey Wilcox also landing inside the top 12.
The Royals performed well in the relays throughout the weekend. The 200 medley relay of Alyssa Bean, Kimberly Gingrass, Campbell DeLuca, and Amelia Griffin claimed third place, while Scranton added another podium finish in the 200 freestyle relay, further strengthening its position.
On Sunday, Alyssa Bean highlighted the closing session by breaking the school record in the 200 butterfly, continuing her impressive start to the season. Additional key swims from Aviah Dahlgren, Isabella Kane, and Sami Roerig helped the Royals finish the meet on a high note.
Up Next: Scranton will travel to the Gettysburg Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5–6, with competition beginning at 6:00 PM in Gettysburg, Pa.
