SCRANTON, Pa. – Freshman swimmer Jake Brunetti has been named this week's Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week after delivering a record-setting performance to help lead The University of Scranton men's swimming team to the Cougar Splash Invitational championship this past weekend.
Brunetti highlighted the three-day meet with a school-record swim in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 1:54.72 during Sunday's championship session. His performance marked the fastest 200 backstroke in program history and capped an impressive weekend for the first-year standout.
He also played a key role in Scranton's winning 200 medley relay, leading off the quartet that opened Friday's session with a time of 1:34.46 and helping set the tone for the Royals' dominant team effort.
Brunetti's contributions across multiple events helped Scranton secure the invitational title and continue its strong early-season momentum.
