McLoughlin Reaches 1,000 Career Points as Men's Hoops Falls to Moravian, 88-75

SCRANTON, PA – The University of Scranton men's basketball team fell in Landmark Conference action to Moravian University on Wednesday night at the John Long Center, 88-75.

The Basics

  • Final Score: Moravian - 88, Scranton - 75

How it Happened

  • Moravian opened the game with a 10-4 run. 
  • Freshman Sammy Tornabene tied the game up at 10-10 with consecutive layups. 
  • The Royals took a 22-20 lead after a layup from senior Will McLoughlin at the 10:15 mark in the first half. 
  • Graduate Student Tahaj Parland connected from deep to give the Royals a three-point lead. 
  • The Royals went on a 19-4 run at the 6:25 mark to gain an eight-point cushion late in the opening half. 
  • Moravian closed the first half on a 19-10 run and held a 43-42 lead at halftime.
  • McLoughlin opened the scoring in the second half with hook shot off a feed from Parland.
  • Senior Cameron Khoza drilled a three after an offensive rebound from McLoughlin at 17:42. 
  • Junior Jon Spatola stole the ball from Moravian and converted an and-one on the other end to tie the game at 64-64 at the 10:21 mark. 
  • The Royals took a three point lead (71-68) after Spatola connected from deep with 6:28 remaining in the game. 
  • Moravian went on an 20-6 run in the final six minutes to close out the game and secure the win. 
  • McLoughlin hit a mid-range jumper at the 1:58 mark to reach 1,000 career points.

  • McLoughlin led Scranton with 20 points, including his 1,000th career point.
  • Spatola shot 3-5 from deep and finished with 16 points and three assists
  • Parland contributed nine points and eight assists.
