SCRANTON, PA -- The University of Scranton softball team swept Marywood University in the season opener at Magis Field on Tuesday.
Game 1 - Scranton 6, Marywood 5
How it Happened
- Marywood took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but the Royals responded as senior Alyssa Mosconi doubled to right center to score fellow senior Kylie Rochford and tie the game up at 1-1 in the bottom of the first.
- The Pacers scored a pair of runs in the top of the second and added 2 more in the top of the third to take a 5-1 lead over Scranton.
- Rochford drove in sophomore Celia Totaro in the bottom of the third to cut Marywood's lead to 5-2.Â
- Mosconi hit a two-run homer, the first of her career, in the bottom of the sixth to bring Scranton within 1.
- Totaro scored the game-tying run for Scranton in the bottom of the seventh off a single to right field from junior Emmie Feltenberger.
- Feltenberger then scored the winning run on a wild pitch to complete the 6-5 comeback win for the Royals.Â

- In her collegiate debut, freshman pitcher Emma Douglas entered the game in relief and pitched 4 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts while allowing just 1 hit to secure her first career win.Â
- Mosconi went 2-4 with 3 RBI and her first career home run.Â
- Totaro went 3-4 with 2 runs scored.
- Feletenberger went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.Â
Game 2 - Scranton 8, Marywood 0
How it Happened
- Mosconi doubled to score Feltenberger in the top of the bottom of the first to give Scranton an early 1-0 lead. Scranton tacked on another run later in the inning as senior Hannah Keane hit a double to left center that scored Mosconi and put the Royals up 2-0.
- Rochford singled to center to score sophomore Alexa Bruno in the bottom of the fourth and give Scranton a 3-0 advantage.
- The Royals added two more runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to end the game by mercy rule, 8-0. Sophomore Lainey Lacey hit a walk off single to right field in the bottom of the sixth that scored Keane.Â

- Keane went 3-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
- Lacey went 1-1 with 2 RBI.
- Senior Emma Tirollo four shutout innings with 8 strikeouts and earned the win.
- Freshman pitcher Kiley Mullins earned the save with 2 shutout innings, 0 hits allowed, and 4 strikeouts in her collegiate debut.Â
