Scranton Women's Basketball Announces 2025-26 Freshman Class

The University of Scranton women's basketball program is excited to announce the addition of five outstanding student-athletes to its 2025–26 freshman class. This year's incoming group brings a championship pedigree, academic excellence, and a wealth of multi-sport talent that aligns perfectly with the Lady Royals' tradition of excellence both on and off the court.


Meet the 2025–26 Women's Basketball Freshman Class:

Kelsey Miedreich5'10" | Forward | Pearl River, NY | Pearl River High School

A multi-sport athlete who competed in soccer, basketball, softball, and track, Miedreich earned All-League honors all four years, along with All-State recognition. She also excelled in the classroom, earning membership in the Foreign Language and English Honor Societies.


Gabriella Murphy5'7" | Guard | Marlboro, NY | Marlboro High School

Murphy brings elite-level experience to the Royals, having led Marlboro to Section 9 Championships in 2019 and 2025. She was named All-State Second Team, Class A Player of the Year, and a three-time MHAL All-Star. A four-time selection to the BCANY Top 50, she also scored over 1,000 career points. Off the court, Murphy is a member of the National Honor Society.


Brooke Olender5'10" | Forward | Wynnewood, PA | Archbishop Carroll High School

Olender was a key piece of Archbishop Carroll's 2023 PIAA 6A State Championship squad and later served as team captain. A versatile athlete who also played lacrosse and field hockey, she brings length and leadership to the Lady Royals' frontcourt. Her cousin, Paul Brown, played college basketball, continuing a strong family tradition in athletics.


Kaitlyn Raguso5'8" | Guard | Peekskill, NY | Hendrick Hudson High School

Raguso arrives at Scranton after a decorated senior year that included being named League MVP, Women's Athlete of the Year, and earning All-State honors in both basketball (2nd Team) and flag football (1st Team). A true competitor and leader, she also led her team to a Flag Football Championship in 2025. Raguso was a high honor roll student with a 4.0 GPA, and is a member of multiple honor societies including National, Math, and Italian Honor Society.


Sophia Talutto5'6" | Guard | Dunmore, PA | Dunmore High School

A dynamic multi-sport athlete, Talutto helped lead Dunmore to four straight league championships (2022–2025), three district titles, and a 2023 state championship. A prolific scorer with over 1,500 career points, she was a three-time League Player of the Year, 2025 All-Regional Player of the Year, and All-State Second Team selection. Also a standout in soccer and track, she was a First Team All-League soccer player with 50 career goals and placed 4th in districts for shot put. Academically, Talutto ranked in the Top 5% of her class, served as Student Body President, and is a member of the National Honor Society. Her sister, Anna, previously served as a manager for the Lady Royals women's basketball team.


Head coach Ben O'Brien and the Lady Royals are scheduled to begin the 2025-26 campaign with an exhibition game at Colgate University on Saturday, October 25.
