2025 Recap:
Scranton finished the season with a 22-20 overall record and a strong 15-9 mark in Landmark Conference play, earning the third seed in the Landmark playoffs and advancing to the Landmark Championship game.
Scranton featured a balanced offensive attack throughout the season, ranking second in the Landmark Conference with 362 total runs, 460 hits, and a .416 on-base percentage. That offensive firepower carried the Royals through the Landmark Tournament, as they averaged 8.75 runs per game over four playoff contests. Scranton earned two victories over Elizabethtown during the run, advancing to the Landmark Championship game for the eighth time in program history.
Key Returners:
Scranton brings important members of its 2025 roster, highlighted by multiple All-Conference selections:
- John Heitzman (OF) - .353 AVG, 1.012 OPS, 7 HR, 55 RBI | 2025 All-Region Third Team
- Conor Campbell (OF) - .365 AVG, .956 OPS, 31 RBI, 44 runs scored | 2025 All-Conference First Team
- Logan Mason (RHP) - 11 GP, 1.17 ERA, 15.1 IP, 14 SO, 1.04 WHIP| 2025 All-Conference Second Team
- Aidan Casey (2B) - .248 AVG, 19 RBI, 6 SB, .368 OBP | 2024 All-Conference Second Team
- Matt Holgado (RHP) - Missed 2025 season; 2024: 2-0, 3.12 ERA, 25 SO in 26 IP
- Matt Scepkowski (RHP) - 37.2 IP, 24 SO, 1.46 WHIP
Key Departures:
Scranton will look to replace several key contributors on the offensive side, including three-time All-Conference selection Jake Elston, a career .332 hitter who finished his career with 134 hits and 81 RBI. Also departing are Jake Lopez, a second-team All-Conference pick in 2025 who ranked second on the team with a .360 batting average and 31 RBI, and Matthew Querey, who hit .341 with 24 RBI and 46 hits in 2025 while serving as a three-year starting shortstop.
On the mound, the Royals will also need to replace pitchers Matt Roda, Ryan Walsh, Dominic Chieffalo, Matthew Moreira, and Jimmy Murray, who combined to throw 118.2 innings during the 2025 season.
Outlook:
Despite those departures, the Royals return a strong core led by Heitzman and Campbell, who helped power the offense during a championship run last year. With that group intact, along with an incoming freshman class and key players returning from injury, Scranton enters the 2026 season as an underdog with significant potential to make a run in the Landmark Conference.
