SCRANTON, Pa. -- Kaci Kranson continues to add to what has already been one of the most impressive careers in program and conference history. The senior led the No. 2 ranked University of Scranton Lady Royals to another Landmark Conference Championship this weekend and was named Landmark Conference Championship MVP.
In Thursday's semifinal win over Catholic University, Kranson totaled 15 points and nine rebounds, helping set the tone early as Scranton controlled the game throughout. She followed that with a dominant showing in the championship against Elizabethtown College, finishing with 26 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals in an 82 to 42 victory. Over the two postseason games, she averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while leading the Lady Royals to their 11th straight conference title and a perfect 27 and 0 record.
Earlier this season, Kranson became the all time leading scorer in Landmark Conference history when she passed former Scranton standout Meredith Mesaris '15, who scored 1,758 career points. Kranson now sits at 1,922 career points and is closing in on another milestone. She is looking to become just the second Lady Royal in program history to reach 2,000 career points and join Jennifer Nish '97, who holds the program record with 2,178 points.
Kranson currently ranks third all time in program history behind Nish and Taryn Mellody '07, who finished her career with 1,932 points.
At 2:30 p.m. today, the Lady Royals will find out their draw for the NCAA Tournament as they look to continue their undefeated season on the national stage.
