The University of Scranton baseball team defeated Moravian University, mercy ruling the Greyhounds in eight innings, 18-8, on Tuesday evening at Volpe Field in Scranton.

How it Happened
- Scranton jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning. Jared Cassella doubled with one out, and three consecutive hits brought in the game's first three runs. Joey Granko opened the scoring with an RBI single, John Heitzman followed with an RBI double, and Matthew Gannon added an RBI single to give the Royals a 3-0 advantage.
- Moravian got on the board in the top of the third when David Vozzo stole home. The Greyhounds then tied the game in the fourth with a two-run double that evened the score at 3-3.
- The Royals answered in the bottom of the fourth, regaining the lead on an RBI single from Vincent Napolitano and extending it to 5-3 on an RBI single by Aidan Casey.
- Scranton broke the game open in the fifth, scoring six runs on five hits. Heitzman delivered an RBI single, and two batters later Napolitano added an RBI double before coming home on a passed ball to make it 8-3. The Royals added three more runs in the inning on an error, a wild pitch, and an RBI single by Campbell.
- Moravian responded with two runs in the sixth on a home run and an RBI double, but Scranton countered with an RBI single from Brandon Prince and took advantage of an error to push the lead to 13-5.
- The Greyhounds scored on an error in the seventh, but Scranton answered again in the bottom half with an RBI single from Heitzman.
- Moravian added two runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to cut the deficit to 14-8.
- Scranton closed it out with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the mercy rule victory. Campbell drove in Prince with a sacrifice fly, Duece Rzucidlo scored on a passed ball, and Heitzman capped the 18-8 win with a two-run triple to right center.
