Scranton Women's Lacrosse Caps off Perfect Landmark Regular Season with 21-9 Win Against Drew

The University of Scranton women's lacrosse capped off an unbeaten season in Landmark play with a convincing 21-9 victory over Drew University in the regular season finale in Madison, N.J.

The Basics

  • Scranton finishes the regular season unbeaten in Landmark play for the second straight year and has earned the top seed in the conference playoffs for the third consecutive season.

How it Happened
  • Eileen Hewitt scored the first three goals to give Scranton an early advantage. The junior won the opening draw and found the back of the net just 26 seconds into the first quarter and added two more goals over the next two minutes, both assisted by Grace DiDominica, to extend the lead to 3-0. 
  • Colleen Mullin took a pass from Hewitt and finished with 10:23 remaining in the first period, and Jillian Lopez followed with two goals 24 seconds apart to stretch the lead to six. 
  • Jessica McCabe added two goals before Drew scored its first of the game, sending Scranton into the second quarter with a 9-1 lead. 
  • The Rangers opened the second period with a goal, but Lopez answered with her third of the afternoon to make it 10-2. Drew controlled the ensuing draw and scored again to trim the Royals lead to back to seven. 
  • Alexandra Back and Lylah Wilhelm each recorded their first goals of the game, and McCabe completed her hat trick to push the advantage to 13-3 with five minutes left in the half. 
  • Hewitt netted her fourth goal of the day, and Riley Miller closed out the half with her first, giving Scranton a 15-3 lead at the break. 
  • Drew scored three minutes into the third quarter, but Lopez got that goal right back with a free position goal a few minutes later. 
  • After another Rangers goal, Wilhelm struck again, and Lopez followed with her fifth of the game to give Scranton a 13-goal cushion at the end of the third. 
  • Natalie Paul scored in the opening minute of the fourth quarter, and Ellianna LaGreca added her first of the day a few minutes later to extend the lead to 20-5. 
  • Drew scored four straight to cut the deficit to 11, but Delaney Wozniak capped the scoring as Scranton secured a 21-9 victory to finish Landmark regular season play undefeated.
