The University of Scranton softball team split a non-conference doubleheader against York (Pa.) dropping game one, 11-4, before bouncing back to win game two, 8-5, on Tuesday afternoon at Magis Field in Scranton, Pa.

Game One

How it Happened
- York took the lead in the top of the third, scoring two runs on a pair of RBI doubles to move ahead 2-0.
- Scranton responded in the bottom of the inning with three runs of its own. Mollie Ferreria came home on a wild pitch, Madison Byrwa was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in the tying run, and Julia Vesey drove in Daniela Brescia on a fielder's choice to give the Royals a 3-2 advantage.
- The Spartans answered with three runs in the fourth and added four more in the sixth to extend the lead to 9-3. A double tied the game at 3-3 before a two run home run put York back in front 5-3 in the fourth. In the sixth, York scored four runs on a fielder's choice, an RBI single, and a two run double to make it 9-3
- Scranton added a run in the bottom of the sixth when Brescia scored the Royals' fourth run following an error.
- A two-run home run in the top of the seventh and a scoreless bottom of the frame put the finishing touches on the 11-4 win for York.
Game Two
How it Happened
- York struck quickly, using a single and a double to plate a run just two batters into the game and take a 1-0 lead.
- The Royals responded in the bottom of the first when Muliero lifted a sacrifice fly to score Ferreira and even the score.
- York regained control in the top of the third, scoring three runs on two hits. An error allowed the go ahead run to cross, and a single later in the inning brought home two more to give the Spartans a 4-1 advantage.
- Scranton chipped away in the bottom half of the inning. Julia Vesey singled home Ferreira, and on the same play Celia Totaro showed aggressive baserunning, avoiding a tag at the plate to score and pull the Royals within 4-3.
- After York added a run on an RBI single in the fifth, Scranton answered with a four-run outburst in the bottom of the inning to claim its first lead. Totaro worked a walk and Ferreira followed with a single before Muliero laced a two run double to tie the game at 5-5. Gabriella Gorzkowski then brought in a run with a groundout, and Emmie Feltenberger followed with an RBI double to extend the lead to 7-5.
- The Royals added an insurance run in the sixth, and Emma Douglas closed it out with a scoreless seventh to complete the game and secure an 8-5 victory in the nightcap, earning Scranton a split of the doubleheader.
