Junior Marshall Kain of The University of Scranton men's golf team has been selected as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday

On Tuesday, Kain and fellow junior Richard Essen each carded a 3-under-par 68, a score that ties for the second-lowest round in program history.

Kain led the Royals' dominant tri-match win over Lycoming College and King's College on Tuesday at Wyoming Valley Country Club. Kain surged on the back nine shooting a 5-under-31, fueled by an eagle on the par-5 11th alongside 4 birdies.   

His performance helped set the tone for an impressive team effort in which Scranton won with a score of 276, setting a new program record. 

This marks the first Landmark Athlete of the Week honor of Kain's collegiate career. 

Up next, Scranton will host King's College at Glen Oak Country Club on Thursday, Oct. 1.
