ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior attacker Gus Sturm (Devon,
Pa./Conestoga) scored three goals and The University of
Scranton men's lacrosse team scored six straight goals in the
fourth period to roll past Muhlenberg, 12-6, on Saturday afternoon
at Scotty Wood Stadium.

(Montgomery, N.J./Montgomery) and sophomore midfielder
Alec
Mikrut (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) added two goals
and an assist each as Scranton evened its record at 1-1.
The Royals led 6-1 at halftime behind a pair of goals by senior
midfielder Matt Tibbits (West Hartford,
Conn./Conrad) and a goal and an assist from Gregitis. But
the Mules (1-3) scored twice in the third period while holding
Scranton scoreless, then scored early in the fourth to draw within
6-4.
That's when Mikrut scored to spark a 6-0 run that was capped by
three straight goals by Sturm in the span of 82 seconds that put
the game away.
Freshman attacker Brian Quinn
(Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) added a goal and junior attacker
Anthony
Lombardo (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) had two assists in
the victory.
Scranton held a 38-24 advantage in shots as sophomore goalkeeper
Nicholas
McKaba (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris) made seven
saves and junior midfielder Matt Finor
(Churchville, Pa./Council Rock South) collected seven
ground balls in the win for the Royals. Scranton also had a 15-6
advantage in draw controls, with Finor winning 15 of the 20 he
took.
The Royals are back in action on Wednesday, March 5, when they
host York (Pa.) at 4 p.m. at Fitzpatrick
Field.
