CLERMONT, Fla. - Junior Angelica Titor (Bellerose Village, NY/Floral Park Memorial) went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and three runs scored to lead the offense, as the University of Scranton softball team rolled past Fredonia on Sunday morning, 11-3, in six innings at Hancock Park.
After the victory, the Royals went on to play Washington & Jefferson, dropping a 4-2 decision. With the split, Scranton is now 1-3 on the season.
Scranton 11, Fredonia 3 (Six Innings)

The Royals made quick work of Fredonia in their first game of the morning in Florida, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning and never looking back in the eight-run triumph.
In the opening frame, Scranton did all their damage with two outs.
First, freshman Molly Hampsey (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) got the scoring started by advancing home on a wild pitch to make it a 1-0 game. Next up, junior Marisa Ciriello (Hicksville, N.Y./Hicksville) roped an RBI single to right, scoring fellow junior Jacqueline DeSarro (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem Catholic) to make it a 2-0 lead for Scranton.
With runners on second and third, Titor increased the Scranton lead to four with a swing of the bat, as a two-RBI double scored both Ciriello and senior Jamie Hampsey (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock) to make it a 4-0 game.
The Royals finished the scoring off in the next at-bat, as junior Kaitlin O'Sullivan (Bensalem, Pa./Nazareth Academy) smacked an RBI double of her own, scoring Titor to give Scranton a five-run edge early.
In the third, Scranton added two more runs to go up 7-0, as O'Sullivan had an RBI on a fielder's choice and sophomore Kaitlyn Pittsman (Jefferson Township, Pa./North Pocono) had another on a ground out.
In the fourth, Scranton tacked on two more runs to go up 9-0 after three and a half, as Jamie Hampsey forced a walk with the bases loaded to collect an RBI and Titor posted her second RBI hit of the day on an infield single
In the bottom of the frame, Fredonia finally got on the scoreboard against starter sophomore Morgan Rentzheimer (Laurys Station, Pa./Parkland) scoring a run to make it a 9-1 contest entering the fifth. There, DeSarro had an RBI single that scored Molly Hampsey with two outs, making it a 10-1 game in favor of Scranton.
In the bottom of the frame, Fredonia stayed alive with two runs to extend the game into the sixth at 10-3. But, in the top of the inning, Pittsman had another two-out RBI hit for the Royals, as the single scored Titor to extend the lead back out to eight runs. In the bottom of the sixth, Fredonia went down in order, clinching the first win of the campaign for Scranton.
Overall, Titor had a banner day at the plate to lead the Royals, as she reached base in four trips with two RBI hits and two walks. Elsewhere, Ciriello was also 2-for-2, with two RBI, two runs scored, and a walk.
Elsewhere, DeSarro was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, as was Molly Hampsey, who was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Junior Shannon Stricker (Morrisville, Pa./Conwell Egan) rounded out the multiple hit batters for Scranton in the win, going 2-for-3 with a run scored, as the Royals ended the game with 15 hits.
In the circle, Rentzheimer (1-1) collected her first win of the year, striking out two in six innings of work for Scranton.
Washington & Jefferson 4, Scranton 2
Box Score
Offense was tougher to come by for the Royals in their second game of the morning, as Washington & Jefferson raced out to a 4-0 lead after three innings and held on over the final four frames to take the win.
Down by four entering the sixth inning, Scranton tried to mount a comeback, as DeSarro had an RBI on a fielder's choice that scored Molly Hampsey, then Pittsman knocked home Ciriello on an infield single that cut the Washington & Jefferson lead in half to 4-2.
But, the comeback bid stopped there for Scranton, as the Royals stranded runners on second and third to end the inning. In the seventh, the Royals went down in order, as Washington & Jefferson posted their first win of the season (1-3).
Overall, Molly Hampsey (2-for-4 with a run scored) and O'Sullivan (2-for-3) were the only Scranton players in the lineup to have multiple hits in the win. In the pitching circle, junior Emily Simon (Freehold, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) took the loss.
Scranton will continue their Spring trip in Florida tomorrow, as they play two more games. First the Royals take on Hood at 1 p.m., followed by a contest against Wisconsin Stevens-Point at 3 p.m.
