SHAVERTOWN, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's golf team continued its successful inaugural season by posting a 5-0 match play victory over Wilkes on Tuesday afternoon at Huntsville Golf Club.
The Royals (4-1) have been impressive since winning the first match in school history two weeks ago. On Tuesday, they closed out all five matches before reaching the 15th tee.
Freshman Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) led the way with a 9-and-8 victory at no. 2, while twin sister and sophomores Maggie McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) and Maura McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) were almost as dominant while posting 8-and-7 victories at nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
Freshman Kristen Davis (South Abington Township, Pa./Scranton Prep) had a 6-and-5 win at no. 5, while junior Katie Allen (New Milford, Conn./Immaculate High School) earned a 5-and-4 win at no. 1.
The victory completes the fall portion of the Royals' schedule. They will return to action during the spring semester.
