WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The University of Scranton wrestling team won the final four bouts to turn a deficit into a victory to remain unbeaten with a 27-10 victory at King's on Tuesday evening.

The Royals (11-0) continued the best start in the program's 49-year history and tie the second-most wins in a single season in program history. The school record for wins in a season is 13, set in the 1980-81 season when the Royals went 13-4.

Scranton trailed 8-3 after three matches and still faced an 11-10 deficit heading into the 174-pound bout. But junior Zachary D'Apolito (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley Senior), sophomore Daniel D'Agostini (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic), freshman Keegan Connelly (Schnecksville, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) and senior Salvatore Montuori (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) ran the table to lift the Royals to the win.

D'Apolito got the run started when he cruised to a 10-2 major decision at 174 pounds. The win was his 14th of the season and his 11th in his last 12 bouts. D'Agostini followed with a 6-4 overtime decision at 184 pounds to give Scranton a 17-11 lead. D'Agostini has now won seven of his last eight bouts and is 12-3 on the season.

Connelly clinched the victory for Scranton when he picked up the first major decision victory of his career, winning 14-4 at 197 pounds. It was also his 17th win of the season, fourth-most on the team. Montuori followed with a win at 285 pounds when his opponent was disqualified. He now has 20 victories this season, tied for second on the team.

Scranton also received victories from senior Ian Evans (Laurys Station, Pa./Parkland) and freshman Nicholas DePierro (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold Township) and Max Tricolla (Malverne, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial).

Evans romped to a 17-3 major decision at 157 pounds, a win which gave the Royals a temporary lead at 10-8. It was his team-leading 24th win of the season and the 114th of his career. Evans has also now won 12 straight bouts and 21 of his last 22.

DePierro picked up his 20th win of the season – tied with Montuori for second on the team – by opening the match with a 9-5 victory in overtime at 125 pounds. Tricolla earned the fourth win of his career with a 5-0 decision at 149 pounds.

The Royals will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 21, when they travel to the Bronx, N.Y. to take on New York University and Mount St. Vincent in a tri-match at Mount St. Vincent beginning at 11 a.m.
