WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The University of Scranton wrestling team kept the drama out of its quest for the school's single-season record for victories.

The Royals won seven matches, including a trio of pins, to pick up their 14th win of the season and set the program record with a 38-12 win at Penn College of Technology on Sunday.

Scranton (14-1) eclipsed the previous school record for wins, set in the 1980-81 season when the Royals finished 13-4. This is also the first season the Royals have reached double figures in victories since 2004-05, when they went 10-9.

Junior Nicholas DePierro (Manalapan, N.J./Freehold) got things started with his 12th pin of the season in 2:44 at 125 pounds. After Penn College decision at 133, the Royals won the next three matches to take control, capped by a pin from freshman Nathaniel Cohen (Port Jervis, N.Y./Port Jervis) in just 90 seconds at 157 pounds.

Sophomore Daniel D'Agostini (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) added a pin in 47 seconds at 184 pounds. Freshman Brandon Altieri (West Newton, Mass./Newton North) also had a 4-3 decision at 141 pounds, and the Royals were the recipient of forfeits at 141, 174 and 197 pounds.

Scranton will try to add to its school record victory total when it takes part in the Wilkes Duals on Sunday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
