WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's golf team continued its impressive inaugural season with match play victories over Wilkes and Misericordia on Thursday afternoon at Wilkes-Barre Golf Club.

The Royals improved to 8-2 on the season by defeating Wilkes, 5-0, and Misericordia, 3½-1½. Scranton is now 4-1 in match play this season.

Sophomore Maggie McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) led the way with a pair of impressive victories, winning 9 & 8 against Wilkes and 9 & 7 against Misericordia. Her twin sister Maura McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) was almost as impressive, winning 8 & 7 against Wilkes and 3 & 1 against Misericordia.

Freshman Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) was the other Royal to post two victories, winning 9 & 7 against Wilkes and 2-up against Misericordia.

Scranton also received a 5 & 4 victory from junior Julie Cranney (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) and a 6 & 5 win from freshman Kristen Davis (South Abington Township, Pa./Scranton Prep).

The Royals will be back in action on Monday, April 17, when they face Marywood at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
