MOOSIC, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's golf team played Marywood tough for the second time in a week, but came out on the wrong side of a few close matches in a 3½-1½ loss in match play on Thursday at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
A break here or there could have swung the match the other way as the Royals (3-2) lost a pair of matches that went the full 18 holes. Junior Maggie McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) posted the lone win for Scranton, a 1-up victory at no. 5. Sophomore Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) split her match at no. 2 for the team's other half point.
The women's golf team will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 23, when the Royals compete in the Landmark Conference Fall Invitational at Susquehanna Valley Country Club in Selinsgrove, Pa.
