MOOSIC, Pa. – With the weather finally cooperating for golf in the Northeast, The University of Scranton women's golf team was able to open its spring season on Thursday against Marywood at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
The Royals lost the match play event, 5-0, in conditions that featured temperatures around 60 degrees and a mix of clouds and sun with a bit of light rain early.
Senior Julie Cranney (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) was the lone Royal to reach the 18th hole. She ultimately dropped her match, 1-down, to the Pacers' Briana Baker.
The women's golf team will get another shot at Marywood on Saturday when the Royals face the Pacers in a stroke play event beginning at 1 p.m. at Scranton Municipal Golf Course in Mt. Cobb, Pa.
