TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Tuesday at the Keystone Invitational held at Stonehedge Golf Course. The Royals posted a team scored of 405, falling to Marywood (373) while defeating Neumann (492).
Junior Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) finished fourth out of 16 golfers in the event to lead Scranton (9-1), carding a score of 97 on the par 71, 5,046-yard course on Tuesday.
Senior Maura McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) completed her round in 100 strokes, tying for fifth overall. She finished three ahead of twin sister Maggie McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross), whose round of 103 placed her seventh in the event.
Freshman Abigail Allen (New Milford, Conn./Immaculate H.S.) rounded out the finishers for the Royals on the day in eighth place, checking in with a score of 105.
The Pacers (4-2) had the top three individual rounds of the day led by Mariah Casey's 82. Neumann (1-1) was paced by Bridget McTiernan's 115 while Keystone, which did not record a team scored, saw Taylor Cercone post a team-best round of 121.
Scranton will be back in action on Saturday at the Susquehanna Invitational starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
