Women's Golf Defeats Misericordia, 391-430

DALLAS, Pa. – The University of Scranton women's golf enjoyed a strong outing on Sunday, defeating Misericordia 391-430 in a dual match played at the Irem Temple Golf Club.  The Royals improve to 10-1 in dual matches on the season with the win.

Freshman Molly Lennon (Melville, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) earned individual medalist honors on the day by carding a 92 on the day to top the 10-golfer field.  After shooting a 53 on the front nine, Lennon turned in outstanding effort on the back nine, needing just 39 strokes to complete them with a pair of clutch birdies.

Junior Brianna Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) finished third overall with a round of 96 while freshman Emma Nemitz (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) placed fifth after completing the course in 98 strokes.

Seniors Maggie McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) and Maura McDonough (Dunmore, Pa./Holy Cross) tied for seventh with identical rounds of 105 on the day.

Misericordia (2-5-1) was paced by Alexis Wyandt, who fired a score of 94 against the Royals.

Scranton returns to the links on Saturday against Marywood at the Scranton Municipal Golf Course.  First tee shots are set for 12 p.m. in Mount Cobb, Pa.
