MOOSIC -- Freshman Madalyne Buhler (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) earned individual medalist honors, leading The University of Scranton women's golf team to a second-place finish at the Marywood Spring Invitational on Monday at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
Overall, the Royals finished the afternoon with a team score of 355 to fall just short of the top spot on the leaderboard, which was grabbed by NCAA Division II member Jefferson, who posted a 350 to take the team title.
Individually, Buhler led the way for Scranton, taking medalist honors by five shots with a nine-over 80. The score was Buhler's lowest of her young career.
Elsewhere for the Royals, junior Molly Lennon (Melville, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East) and sophomore Kate Pagano (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) both shot 89 to finish in a tie for seventh, while junior Abigail Allen (New Milford, Conn./Immaculate H.S.) rounded out the Royals' lineup with a 97.
The University of Scranton women's golf team returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Drew and Susquehanna right back at Glemmaura. The action begins at 1 PM.
