TUNKHANNOCK - Sophomore Madalyne Buhler (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) shot the low round of the day once again for The University of Scranton women's golf team, as the Royals coasted past Misericordia in their 2021-22 home opener at Stone Hedge Golf Course, rolling to a 358-469 win on Sunday.
On the afternoon, Buhler ended a strong weekend with her 88 to edge sophomore teammate Victoria Dowling (East Northport, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) for medalist honors, as Dowling carded an 89 in the event.
Buhler, who fired an 84 yesterday to earn medalist accolades vs. King' & Wilkes at Wyoming Valley Country Club, has now shot in the 80's in five of the seven rounds she has competed in during her short Scranton career, while Dowling opened her season with a strong score in the event.
Just behind Dowling was senior Molly Lennon (Melville, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills East), who carded a 90, while another senior, Emma Nemitz (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) rounded out the Royals' scoring line-up with a 91. Elsewhere, junior Kate Pagano (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) finished with a 95 and seniorAbigail Allen (New Milford, Conn./Immaculate H.S.) completed the line-up for Scranton with a 101.
The University of Scranton women's golf team returns to action on Saturday, as they take on Wilkes at Huntsville Golf Club in Dallas. Things get underway at 1 p.m.
