MOOSIC, PA (April 23, 2023) -- Junior Madalyne Buhler (Stony Point, N.Y. / Albertus Magnus) broke the program record with a career-low round of 71 (E) and holds a five stroke lead after day one of the Landmark Conference Championships hosted at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
As a team, the Royals sit in fourth place overall at 401. Catholic finished the day at the top of the standings at 335, while Drew followed close behind in second at 344.
Buhler's stellar round featured an impressive five birdies including back-to-back on 17 and 18 to close out her round.
Freshman Cassandra Weir (Staten Island, N.Y. / Notre Dame Academy) matched her low round of the spring season with a 102 (+31) and sits in 17th place overall. Sophomore Taegan Mills (Montrose, Pa. / Elk Lake) finished one stroke behind Weir at 103 (+32) to finish day one in a tie for 18th.
Rounding out the lineup for Scranton was freshman Nichole Kym (Kimberton, Pa. / Great Valley) who carded a 125 (+54) and sits in 28th place.
Second round action at the Landmark Championships gets underway tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM at Glenmaura.
