Senior Tim Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham)Â of The University of Scranton men's track & field team broke two program records and won the mile at Saturday's Big Apple Invitational and has been named Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
This marks the second time this season that he has won the award after he previously did so on Jan. 28.
Lanahan won the mile with a new program-record time of 4:14.51, eclipsing his previous record of 4:17.94 that had been set at the Conference Challenge Cup on Jan. 27. His mile time is the fastest in the Landmark this season and the fifth-best in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
The Mendham, N.J., native also placed sixth in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:36.32, surpassing the previous record of 8:37.41 that he had also set earlier this season. His 3K time is also the fastest in the conference and the eighth-best in the region.
