Senior Deanna Whelpley of The University of Scranton women's volleyball team has been named an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American for the second time in her career.
After already securing All-Region First Team recognition, All-Conference First Team honors, and being named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year, Whelpley capped her dominant 2025 season with her second career AVCA Honorable Mention All-American award. She led the conference with 473 kills, ranked 13th most in the nation, including 111 in league play, while averaging 4.04 kills per set and posting a career-best .270 hitting percentage.
This is Whelpley's second career AVCA Honorable Mention All-American nod, having first earned the distinction in 2023. She becomes just the second player in program history to receive All-American honors twice, joining former teammate Erin Keaveney, who earned All-American status in 2023 and 2024.
Earlier this year, Whelpley became the 10th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career kills, reaching the milestone during the Landmark Championship match against Juniata and finishing the season with 1,002. She also became the first Royal in program history to be named Landmark Player of the Year.
Her latest AVCA Honorable Mention All-American selection cements her standing as one of the top players in NCAA Division III volleyball for the second time in the last three seasons.
