SCRANTON, Pa. – Sophomore forward Sammy Tornabene of The University of Scranton men's basketball team has been named the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week following a standout performance in the Royals' 83–80 victory over Stevens on Sunday at the John Long Center.
Tornabene delivered a game-high 28 points to lead Scranton, shooting efficiently from the floor while consistently attacking the paint and finishing through contact. His scoring presence kept the Royals within striking distance throughout a tightly contested game that featured multiple lead changes.
In the closing minutes, Tornabene elevated his play even further. He knocked down a critical three-pointer during Scranton's late surge and calmly converted free throws in the final moments to help seal the victory as the Royals closed the game on a decisive 15–4 run over the final 4:27.
Along with his scoring output, Tornabene added five rebounds, three assists, and key defensive plays, showcasing his all-around impact on both ends of the floor.
With his performance, Tornabene played a central role in Scranton improving to 7–1 on the season and earned Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honors.
