Junior setter Cammi Quirk and senior outside hitter Deanna Whelpley were named Athletes of the Week after helping lead the Royals to three straight wins against Middlebury, Salisbury, and SUNY Cortland this weekend to improve to 5-4 on the 2025 season.
Quirk had a big weekend for the Royals, recording 125 assists, 28 digs and 15 kills over the three games played. The Oakland, N.J. native tallied 49 assists and 11 digs in the win over Middlebury and followed that up with 42 assists, 11 digs and nine kills versus Salisbury and 34 assists, six digs and one kill against SUNY Cortland. Quirk currently leads the Landmark Conference with 347 assists on the year.
Whelpley led the team in kills in all three games over the weekend, tallying 18 kills against Middlebury, 20 kills against Salisbury, and 11 kills against SUNY Cortland, and she recorded a .377 hitting percentage over the three games. Whelpley currently leads the Landmark Conference in total kills this season with 133, and she is seventh in the conference with a .242 hitting percentage.
The Royals are back in action this weekend with a match against Eastern University on Friday, Sept. 19 at 5:00 PM at The John Long Center in Scranton.
