Senior goalkeeper Charlie Smith of The University of Scranton men's soccer team has been named the Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week following two more shutout performances that extended the Royals' unbeaten start to the 2025 season.
Smith posted clean sheets in a 3-0 win versus Penn State Abington on September 17 and a 0-0 draw against nationally ranked Cortland on September 20. He made three saves in each match and played every minute between the posts, continuing his standout form at the heart of the Scranton defense.
Through six starts, Smith has allowed just one goal, helping the Royals to a 3-0-3 record. He currently ranks among the top 15 goalkeepers in NCAA Division III in both goals against average (0.18) and save percentage (0.958).
Smith and the Royals will return to action at Weiss Field on Wednesday night against Misericordia University at 7:00 PM.
