SCRANTON, PA — University of Scranton senior Molly White has been named Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week after delivering a historic performance at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Competing in the pentathlon on Friday, White finished eighth overall with a program-record and personal-best total of 3,558 points to earn First Team All-America honors.
With the result, White became just the second First Team All-American in program history for the Scranton track and field program, joining Caroline Banas, who earned the distinction in the high jump in 2018.
White opened the five-event competition with a strong showing in the 60-meter hurdles, recording a program-record and personal-best time of 9.03 seconds to place ninth.
She followed with an 11th-place finish in the high jump after clearing 1.58 meters, before posting a mark of 9.09 meters in the shot put.
White continued her consistent day in the long jump, finishing eighth with a leap of 5.18 meters to remain within reach of the top eight heading into the final event.
Entering the 800 meters just outside of All-America position, White delivered her strongest performance of the day. She won the event with a personal-best time of 2:17.13, earning the points necessary to move into eighth place overall and secure First Team All-America honors.
Her program-record total of 3,558 points capped a remarkable day on the national stage and solidified her place among the top athletes in Scranton track and field history.
