The University of Scranton women's track and field team delivered a strong showing at the York Twilight meet on Wednesday, highlighted by four program records and multiple first-place finishes.
The Royals turned in a record-setting night on the track, beginning with Molly White, who won the 400m hurdles in a program record time of 1:02.92. White also had a standout performance in the field, winning the triple jump (11.25m) and placing second in the high jump (1.60m).
Olivia Miller continued her strong outdoor season, capturing first place in the 800m with a program record time of 2:15.98. In the distance events, Kyrianna Nemitz recorded a program record in the 1500m, placing fourth with a time of 4:40.83.
On the track, Samantha Sharrow led the sprint group with a second-place finish in the 200m (25.36) and added another victory in the long jump (5.52m). Jocelyn Smith followed closely behind in the 200m, finishing fourth in 25.87, while Kaia Grantham took sixth.
Scranton also found success in the relay events, as the 4x100m relay team of Samantha Solar, Sharrow, Grantham, and Smith captured first place with a time of 47.97.
In the field events, Afua Apau set a program record in the shot put with a throw of 11.86 meters, placing third overall. Elena Funk added a third-place finish in the high jump with a personal-best clearance of 1.60m, while Gretchen Haray placed fourth in the same event.
Additional strong performances included a second-place finish in the long jump from Madeline Samar (4.95m) and a top-10 finish in the javelin from Brooke Engler, who placed eighth with a throw of 29.75m.
Scranton returns to action next weekend with competition split across multiple meets. The Royals will compete at the Susquehanna Multi on April 9-10 in Selinsgrove, Pa., the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University on April 11-12 in Lewisburg, Pa., and the DeSales Invitational on April 11 in Center Valley, Pa.
