Women’s Track & Field Opens Outdoor Season with Record-Setting Performances at Jim Taylor Duals

The University of Scranton women's track and field team opened the 2026 outdoor season with an impressive showing at the Jim Taylor Duals, hosted by Susquehanna University on March 27-28.

The Royals set 24 top-10 times in program history while breaking four school records on the weekend.

Scranton wasted no time making history on Friday, as Peyton Fox delivered a standout performance in the hammer throw, capturing first place with a program record mark of 47.70 meters. Afua Apau also competed in the field events, placing seventh in the shot put with a throw of 10.83 meters.

On Saturday, the Royals continued their strong start with multiple top finishes and additional program records. Fox added another record to her weekend with a second-place finish in the discus at 37.01 meters. Molly White also etched her name into the record books, finishing second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.14 seconds.

Olivia Miller led the way on the track, winning the 400m in 57.63 seconds. Sam Sharrow turned in a dominant all-around performance, finishing second in the long jump (5.69m) while also winning the 100m (12.27) and 200m (24.96), the latter setting a new program record.

In the 100m, Jocelyn Smith placed second and Kaia Grantham finished fifth, while the trio also competed in the 200m where Smith took second, White placed fourth, and Grantham finished sixth.

Scranton also found success in the relays, as the 4x400m team of Tasia Miniotis, Isabella Delgado, Jocelyn Smith, and Olivia Miller captured first place.

Elsewhere, Victoria Turner placed seventh in the javelin (31.43m), Leighann Livio finished eighth in the 800m, and Lily Kelleher took seventh in the pole vault. Elena Funk added a fourth-place finish in the high jump with a clearance of 1.53 meters.

The Royals return to action on Wednesday, April 1 at the York College Twilight Meet.
