The University of Scranton men's golf team captured the DeSales Invitational title this weekend as sophomore Richard Essen earned medalist honors.
Scranton finished with a score of 612 over the two day tournament and won by nine shots over Albright College.
Essen fired off a two-under par round of 70 featuring a hole-out eagle on the 14th hole. He finished the tournament at 145 (+1) to win by two shots.
The second round also featured scores of 77 - Juliano Nieto, 78 - Gehrig Shannon, 79 - Cad Kelleher, and 82 - Jack Novis.

The Royals hold a three-shot advantage over Albright 'B' (311, +23), with Arcadia close behind in third (312, +24).
Scranton was paced by a strong showing near the top of the individual leaderboard, placing two golfers in a tie for fourth. Richard Essen and Cade Kelleher each fired rounds of 75 (+3) to lead the Royals.
Gehrig Shannon and Juliano Nieto both turned in rounds of 79 (+7) and sit tied for eighth, giving Scranton four golfers inside the top 10 after the opening round.
Rounding out the lineup, Jack Novis posted an 83 (+11) and is tied for 20th.
Arcadia's Frankie Sass leads the individual field after an even-par round of 72, while Albright's Filip Hjerten sits one stroke back at 73 (+1).
