How It Happened
- Ithaca jumped out early, scoring three runs in the first inning (two unearned) off starter Matt Holgado.
- Scranton responded in the third after loading the bases with one out. A pair of wild pitches allowed Matthew Gannon and Logan Mason to score, cutting the deficit to 3-2. With two outs and runners on the corners, Conor Campbell beat out an infield single to tie the game at 3-3.
- The Bombers answered quickly in the top of the inning, delivering back-to-back triples with runners on base to build a 6-3 lead. A sacrifice fly extended the margin to 7-3.
- The Royals refused to back down. In the bottom of the third, Scranton again loaded the bases with no outs. Vincent Napolitano legged out an infield single to plate a run, and consecutive walks by Jimmy Lundari and Deuce Rzucidlo forced in two more to make it 7-6. Campbell followed with an RBI single to even the score, and an Ithaca error allowed two additional runs to cross, giving Scranton a 9-7 advantage.
- Scranton tacked on two more runs in the fourth. Jared Cassella delivered an RBI single and later scored on a wild pitch to extend the lead to 11-7.
- Ithaca chipped away, loading the bases in the fifth before Campbell made a diving grab to prevent extra bases, though a sacrifice fly scored a run. A hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded later in the inning cut the lead to 11-9.
- The Bombers pulled even in the sixth with a pair of RBI hits, tying the contest at 11-11.
- In the eighth, the Royals once again loaded the bases with two outs. Aidan Casey was hit by a pitch, forcing in the go-ahead run and putting Scranton ahead 12-11.
- In the ninth, Ithaca threatened when its leadoff hitter singled, but Lundari threw him out attempting to steal second. Ryan Boyd then retired the next two batters to seal the victory.
