University of Scranton women's soccer sophomore midfielder Lila Parente has been named the Peggy's Scranton Athlete of the Week, after a two-goal performance in the Royals' 7-0 win over Farmingdale State College on Sunday.
Parente scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the 36th minute, finishing a low cross from Faith Schechter to make it 4-0. She added her second of the afternoon in the 59th minute, converting a penalty kick just 83 seconds after Jenna Borelli made it 6-0. That capped the scoring at 7-0.
Scranton took control early, scoring five times in the first half and outshooting Farmingdale State 21-5, including a 14-3 edge in shots on goal. The Royals improved to 3-1-2 on the season and got the shutout from three goalkeepers, who combined for three saves.
Parente and the Royals return home Wednesday, Sept. 23, to host Misericordia University at 7:00 p.m. at Weiss Field.
